How does it affect the future of marketing and advertising?

Come get a crash course on social networking and how you can use it to market yourself or your company. Be entertained, engaged and educated on the how’s and how nots of marketing through social networking sites. Join the fun and learn how you can take advantage of the expanding opportunities in this new frontier.

Panels will include:

Liz Heller: CEO of Buzztone Buzztone is an agent of popular culture. Clients include Fox Television, Coca-Cola, Atlantic Records, Electronic Arts, and Warner Bros. Founder Liz Heller was one of the first Hollywood executives to employ the power of previously unexplored mediums such as the Internet, music videos, and DVDs. As Executive Vice President at Capitol Records, Ms. Heller forged early alliances with strategic partners including Microsoft, Macromedia, Liquid Audio and Apple.

Ryan Okum: President of StreetWise is a recognized industry leader in social marketing and is responsible for overseeing marketing, strategic planning and overall business development for StreetWise. Okum joined the company in 2003, and has worked with a myriad of StreetWise’s leading brands, including Coca-Cola, Nokia, EB Games, Activision, Warner Brothers, Live Nation and FUEL TV.

Andrew Sorcini: Blogger/ Interactive Marketer and Digg specialist is also known as Mr. Baby Man on Digg. Sorcini is the most powerful user on Digg. Sorcini joined Digg on December 27, 2005. Since then, Sorcini dugg 106,266 stories, commented on 2,052 stories, submitted 10,349 stories, made 2,848 stories popular, gained 11,095 fans, and had his profile viewed 262,813 times.

The moderator for the evening will be Hal Hefner, a Creative Recruiter withBLT Recruiting. Founder of Catmonkee: creator and curator of culture.

You are invited to come hear the panel of experts discuss the following hot social networking topics that can help you promote your image, find friends and conduct effective searches. You will also acquire the know-how to give yourself exposure in the right way to get a job or expand your customer base.

Topics include:

  1. A brief overview of the different sites/practices and how they are used personally/professionally.

APALA/Advertising Production Association of Los Angeles



The Advertising Production Association of Los Angeles is a nonprofit professional organization, comprised of professionals in various fields including graphic communications, print production, advertising production, publishing, digital production and new media. The association’s mission is to promote the interests of production managers, traffic managers and advertising project managers by facilitating career growth opportunities, educational programs and the exchange of information with our peers.

The APALA, founded in 1945, has a long history in the graphic arts community in Southern California. It was originally known as the Advertising Agency Production Men’s Club, and later became the Advertising Production Manager’s Club when women and non-agency producers were allowed to join. The organization has grown with the Los Angeles market to meet the needs of its members and the community that it serves.

The APALA provides educational forums conducted by industry professionals and experts in the graphic arts industry. It also promotes the advancement of members by sponsoring career-enhancing workshops and programs. Through its APALA online website, it provides membership networking opportunities and access to industry leaders.

The APALA is dedicated to supporting this network of professionals in print and digital media production throughout the graphic communications industry.
